World premiere for PAUSE
I am so overwhelmed! Great news for PAUSE!
My directorial debut PAUSE has been officially selected for its World Premiere at the 53rd Karlovy Vary International Festival at the East of the West competition (29 June – 7 July 2018).
The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Czech Republic and the most prestigious such festival in Central and Eastern Europe. It is one of the oldest A-list film festivals (i.e., non-specialized festivals with a competition for feature-length fiction films), a category it shares with the festivals in Cannes, Berlin, Venice, San Sebastian, Moscow, Montreal, Shanghai, and Tokyo. Among filmmakers, buyers, distributors, sales agents, and journalists, KVIFF is considered the most important event in all of Central and Eastern Europe. The section “East of the West” is an international competition of debuts and second feature-length films from Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Greece, Turkey, and the countries of the former Soviet Union, shown exclusively as world, international, or European premieres.

Cyprus Film Days IFF is the official competition feature fiction film festival of the island of Cyprus. It is co-organised by the Ministry of Education & Culture and Rialto Theatre. It consists of two main programmes: the International Competition section -Glocal Images- and the non-competitive section -Viewfinder-, which comprises films that have been screened and awarded at major festivals over the past year. The Festival also includes a National Competition Section, exclusively showcasing Cypriot productions. Special tributes, parallel screenings, master classes, workshops and musical events, complete the program of the official International Film Festival of Cyprus. All the films screened at the Festival are Cyprus premieres and 2018 – 2019 productions.
A three-member Artistic Committee is responsible for the selection of films within the programme, while a Jury made up of five internationally recognised professionals, awards films accordingly.
All films are presented in their original language with Greek and English subtitles. The Festival will take place at Rialto Theatre, in Limassol and Zena Palace Cinema, in Nicosia, from the 19th to 28th April, 2018.

Proud member of the European Film Academy
I am proud to announce that I am now a proud voting member of the European Film Academy. You can view my profile HERE.
Founded in 1988, the European Film Academy now unites more than 3,200 European film professionals with the common aim of promoting Europe’s film culture.
The creation of the European Film Academy (EFA) was the initiative of a group of Europe’s finest filmmakers brought together on the occasion of the first European Film Awards Ceremony held in November 1988. EFA was finally founded in 1989 as the European Cinema Society by its first president Ingmar Bergman and 40 filmmakers to advance the interests of the European film industry. Wim Wenders was elected as first chairman of the association which two years later was renamed European Film Academy. In 1996, he followed Ingmar Bergman as president of the EFA while British producer Nik Powell was elected as chairman of the EFA Board. He was followed by French producer Humbert Balsan who was chairman from 2003 until his sudden death in 2005 and French producer Yves Marmion until 2013. Current chairwoman is Polish director Agnieszka Holland.
The European Film Academy (EFA) now unites more than 3,000 European film professionals with the common aim of promoting European film culture. Throughout the year, the EFA initiates and participates in a series of activities dealing with film politics as well as economic, artistic, and training aspects. The programme includes conferences, seminars and workshops, and a common goal is to build a bridge between creativity and the industry. These activities culminate in the annual presentation of the European Film Awards.
Since its early beginnings, Berlin has been the seat of the EFA Secretariat where it is registered as a non-profit association.
Jury duty for Malta Short FIlm Festival
Malta Short Film Festival has invited me to participate in the jury of the Malta Short Film Festival 2017 for its 9th edition. The results can be seen HERE.
The Malta Short Film Festival brings together films of different genres from around the world. But its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is broadcast on TVM, Malta’s national TV station. The films are discussed and partially adjudicated by a panel of judges, and partially by public vote. This enables the filmmaker and the viewer to understand the production value of each entry and its ability to communicate with its audience.
These are the films in the official selection for the year 2017, in alphabetical order.
